Every Child Deserves a Voice
Inspired by the belief that music is crucial in every child’s development, Mount Vernon Virtuosi has created Every Child Deserves a Voice, an education outreach initiative generously funded by donations and grants.
MVV is partnered with KIPP Harmony Academy and Green School to provide group lessons geared toward grades K-5. We provide an assortment of violins, violas and cellos free for the students to use for their classes. Sessions are taught by MVV string quartet fellows and orchestra members who are professional teaching artists. All expenses are covered by Mount Vernon Virtuosi, including teaching artist fees, instrument maintenance, and supplies.
Our philosophy is that music instruction should be provided to children who otherwise would not be able to afford an instrument or lessons. It is our hope that through a successful partnership, the program could potentially grow to include additional students and teaching artists.
